Day 1: We board our coach and begin our journey to Germany, with comfort stops along the way, we will arrive at the delightful Hotel Lindenwirt and enjoy a welcome glass of wine before freshening up in time for dinner.
Day 2: After a leisurely breakfast, the day is yours to explore and enjoy Rüdesheim at Christmas time. When you walk out of your hotel, located in the centre of the historical old town, you will find yourself immediately immersed in the magical Christmas market. At the festively decorated stalls you’ll find plenty of handmade artwork, handicrafts and local delicacies. You will be able to watch a selection of candles, decorations, wood figures, woodcarvings, glass engravings, “schwibbögen” arched candles, and other local traditional crafts being made. There will also be an abundance of festive dishes from the region along with the ever popular glühwein (mulled wine); and don’t forget to try the famous Rüdesheim coffee drink, made with locally distilled Asbech Uralt brandy for that warming tipple! With us staying in the very centre of the historical old town, you will be able to enjoy this beautiful Christmas market after dark, with enchanting stalls and glowing lights it becomes a truly magical experience.
Day 3: We spend today exploring the fantastic Frankfurt Christmas Market. Frankfurt Weihnachtsmark is one of the largest and most popular in all of Germany. With a glittering 30m tree and a vintage carousel, the town is like a snow-globe come to life. With several festive locations sprinkled around the city, you will find countless stalls selling grilled sausages, roasted nuts, honey, candles and pretty ornaments as well as local jewellery, art and sculpture. Be sure to sample Bethmaennchen – traditional marzipan cookies, found only in Frankfurt; and of course, when in a German Christmas market, enjoying a glass of glühwein is a must!
Day 4: Today we say goodbye to the magic of this beautiful region and begin our homeward journey.
