Steeped in grisly history, in a room at the top of the top of the Tower, you will find an original executioner's block from the 18th century and the axe that’s believed to be used at the last public beheading on Tower Green in 1747. The basement of the White Tower is traditionally thought to be the site of the torture and interrogation of prisoners such as Guy Fawkes.
Marvel at the armed foot guards protecting the Crown jewels in the Jewel House and be amazed by the magnificent world-famous collection of royal regalia with 23,578 gemstones, including items still used in royal ceremonies today.
Tip-toe through the King’s The Medieval Palace and immerse yourself in fabulous recreations of rooms and interiors used by medieval kings and queens. Encounter sculptures of lions, baboons an elephant and a polar bear; depicting the former menagerie of Royal Beasts kept at the Tower throughout the years.
Be enthralled on an optional included tour from the Yeoman Warders, commonly known as ‘Beefeaters’, who will share stories from 1,000 years of history. You will be entertained be tales of intrigue, imprisonment, execution, torture and more. Tours begin every 30 minutes near the main entrance to the Tower.
