Day 1: We make our way to Cheshire to the stunning Crewe Hall Hotel, arriving in time for dinner.
Day 2: This morning we travel into the Peak District National Park to charming town of Bakewell. Idyllically situated on the banks of the River Wye with mellow stone buildings, quaint courtyards and a medieval five arch bridge, it’s not surprising Jane Austen based Pride and Prejudice’s fictional town of Lambton on this delightful town. There will of course be time to treat yourself to an original Bakewell Tart! In the afternoon we head to Chatsworth House & Gardens, home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire on the banks of the river Derwent. One of the greatest houses of the Elizabethan age the house showcases a unique collection of 16th and 17th century furniture, tapestries and embroideries, a magnificent painted hall, state rooms and galleries. The 105 acre gardens are magnificent in the summer months retaining many historical attributes alongside modern landscape design with sculptures and water features.
Day 3: We begin our day in the pretty Spa town of Buxton which has attracted visitors for centuries to drink and bathe in its thermal mineral water. In a town whose history is shaped by water, the Buxton Crescent Experience is a new boutique attraction that reveals the story of this special spa town. Throughout nine interactive rooms inside the iconic Grade I listed Buxton Crescent you will learn about the history of this famous town, its renowned water and remarkable restoration of the Crescent building. We spend our afternoon exploring RHS Bridgewater. Bridgewater opened in May 2021 and is the Royal Horticultural Society’s fifth public display garden. Reviving the historic 156 acre gardens was the biggest project of its kind in Europe and highlights include the restoration of the Walled Kitchen Garden, The Paradise Garden, Moon Bridge Water and Ellesmere Lake.
Day 4: This morning, after breakfast, we travel to the vibrant city of Liverpool and begin our day here with a visit to the award winning Beatles Story; the world’s largest permanent exhibition devoted to the Fab 4. You’ll be taken on a magical history tour for an immersive and atmospheric journey through the story of the lives, times, culture and music of The Beatles and learn how four young lads from Liverpool were propelled from humble childhood beginnings to the dizzy heights of worldwide fame and fortune. The afternoon is free to explore this diverse and exciting city at your leisure; maybe visit the Tate Gallery or Merseyside Maritime Museum at The Royal Albert Dock, enjoy a little retail therapy or even take a ‘Ferry cross the Mersey’.
Day 5: Today we say goodbye and begin our journey home.
