key role in the 18th century Industrial Revolution. In the afternoon we embark on a 2-hour return narrow boat cruise through the picturesque Derwent Valley countryside. During the voyage you will enjoy entertaining commentary about the local area and its history, whilst taking in the tranquil scenery.

Day 3: We spend this morning at the fascinating Great British Car Journey, a museum taking us through the golden ages of British car design and manufacturing. The journey is organised into chapters, telling the story of the pioneers, entrepreneurs and industrialists instrumental in the motor industry and celebrating an era when British innovation was at the forefront of a transport revolution. We explore more than 130 vehicles as we discover the history of British motoring, from the legendary Austin Seven to the magnificent Morris Minor and beyond. This afternoon, we visit Crich Tramway Village, a charming period village museum where we can immerse ourselves in yesteryear. Take a vintage tram ride through time, along the traditional period village street and out into the open countryside with spectacular views. This captivating journey into the past is made complete with a visit to the Red Lion Pub and Barnett’s Sweet Shop.

Day 4: This morning we make our way to Denby Pottery Village, home to the largest selection of Denby stoneware in the world. We experience a behind the scenes tour of the working pottery and discover how the beautiful ceramics are hand-crafted from ‘clay to cup. Our Discovery Experience includes a visit to the Museum where we discover over 200 years of fascinating history and we will enjoy a delicious afternoon tea served on beautiful Denby tableware. Later today we visit Kedleston Hall, an 18th century mansion with its colonial history and vast parkland. Designed for lavish entertaining we discover luxurious Adam interiors, staterooms and the Curzon family’s collection of fine art and furniture reflecting both the tastes of its creators and their fascination with the classical world of the Roman Empire. Outside, we can stroll the beautiful pleasure grounds and parkland which offer a colourful interpretation of its original 18th century design.
